All About Steve :

puzzle word constructor Mary Horowitz (Sandra Bullock) is strange and unpopular. When she meets TV news cameraman Steve (Bradley Cooper) on a blind date, Mary believes she has met her soulmate and is determined to pursue him wherever necessary. Steve's fellow journalist Hartman Hughes (Thomas Haden Church) encourages Mary's infatuation, taking pleasure in Steve's torture. As Mary follows the news team across the country, she becomes embroiled in the biggest news story of the year when a group of hearing impaired children are caught in a hole leading to an underground mine. Workers believe they have saved all children when in fact one is left behind, which Mary discovers after she falls in trying to catch up to Steve. Hartman is guilt-ridden into trying to save them but his plan backfires when the fire hose he uses to support himself breaks and he plummets down. In the end Mary's comprehension of physics is their last resource, and brain beats brawn yet again.

Critical reaction
The film received overwhelmingly negative reaction from critics. Rotten Tomatoes reported that 5% of critics gave the film positive reviews based on 72 reviews, with the consensus report saying, "All About Steve is an oddly creepy, sour film, featuring a heroine so desperate and peculiar that audiences may be more likely to pity than root for her.". [4] According to another review aggregator, Metacritic, which assigns a normalized rating out of 100 top reviews from mainstream critics, the film has received an average score of 17%, based on 25 reviews. [5]

Many critics have described the film as the worst they have seen this year, and the lowest point in Bullock's career, calling it worse than Speed 2. However, the Globe and Mail gave the film 3 stars, praising Bullock's performance as "the star attraction as the annoyingly endearing Mary" and director Phil Traill for making "the whole thing sparkle." Chuck Wilson of the LA Weekly called the film a "refreshingly quirky comedy."
